Open Class Show Exhibits at the Marshall County Fair

Jane Yochum, Marshall County 4-H Fair Open Class Co-Superintendent has announced information in exhibits for this year’s fair.

Exhibit guides are available at local libraries and businesses.  It can also be found online at www.ces.purdue.edu/marshall, local links, county fair, 2010 Open Class exhibit guide.

The Open Class isn’t just for adults but also there is a special children’s section.

There is a huge variety of exhibits a person can enter in the fair including: Christmas at the Fair…ceramics, clothing, ornaments, quilted or pieced articles, decorations, needlepoint and more.  Under the section of Basic Crafts are ceramics, home décor, miscellaneous crafts, woodworking, scrapbooking, and painting and drawing.  

Not only is there a wide variety of competitive classes within the Open Class Exhibit Building, there are also three additional activities that exhibitors are encouraged to try….The Style Show, Bake-A-Rama, and the Ice Cream Crank Off.  Each of these activities has a specific set of rules that participants are expected to acknowledge.  The entry sheets are available at the extension office or on the web page.  

The Fine Arts section includes painting and drawing and photography.  Other categories are Needle Art, Quilts, Clothing and Sewing, Foods, Food Preservation, Plants and Flowers, and Gardening.

Entries will be accepted on Saturday, July 10th with closed judging beginning at 1 p.m.
