Indiana District 2 Convoy Exercise

10/26/10 The Indiana District 2 Convoy Exercise was held on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm.

The exercise was a mock earthquake which affected Pulaski County, Indiana. The convoy consisted of 29 vehicles, 63 people, 1 Lifeline Helicopter, and 3 canines.

The advanced group began the route and provided safety for the remainder of the convoy. The advanced group consisted of 2 vehicles and 5 people.

Seven counties were represented inthe drill. The Exercise Coordinator was Sherry Fagner, Pulaski County
Health Dept. The elements represented were Fire, which was responsible for search and rescue and fire suppression; Emergency Medical Group, responsible for triage, treatment, and transportation; Law Enforcement, responsible for security; Tactical Rescue, responsible for difficult rescue; Service &
Support, responsible for communications and RACES (HAM radio for backup communications); Dept. of Natural Resources, responsible for swift water subject matter experts;, and the Incident Management Team.

The IMT consisted of Incident Commander, Mike Compton, Elkhart Fire Dept; Public Information Officers, Randy Schmucker, American Red Cross of Marshall/Fulton County and Dr. Jean Marie Thompson, State of Indiana Dept. of Mental Health; Safety Officer, Andy Metzger, Plymouth Fire Chief; Liaison Officer, Bill Zimmerman, St. Joe County EMA; Medical/Technical Specialist, John Grolich, Plymouth Fire Dept.; Operations Section Chief, Jim Lopez, South Bend Fire Dept. Assistant Chief; Planning Section Chief, Ray Schultz, Mishawaka Fire Dept.; Logistics Section Chief, Mike Pennington, Elkhart County EMA; Finance/Administration, Jim Conner, Winamac Town Planner
