A golden goal in the 106thminute sealed Ancilla College’s fate as Jackson Community College claimed a 2-1 victory in NJCAA Region 12 play on Wednesday.

Playing into a strong headwind, Ancilla (1-3-0, 1-3-0 Region 12) fell behind in the 28th minute, but quickly equalized after halftime.

Not even two minutes into the second half, Anthony Huard found space down the left flank and drilled a picture perfect cross to Cody Koesters for the freshman’s third goal of the season.

Huard had a chance to put Ancilla ahead late in the second half, but his left-footed drive was denied by an excellent effort by Jackson keeper Alex Ghattas.

Ancilla goalkeeper Alex Howe made nine stops against Jackson (2-2-1, 1-2-0 Region 12).

The Chargers will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Kirtland, OH for the Lakeland Community College Invitational.  Ancilla will open against Lakeland CC on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and will conclude the weekend on Sunday with a 1:00 p.m. match against Cuyahoga CC.

Ancilla College is a Catholic, two-year, co-educational, liberal arts college in Donaldson, Indiana sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ
