The Lady Chargers defeated Elgin Community College 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 and South Suburban College 24-26, 25-21, 25-21, 25-12 before falling to Sauk Valley Community College 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21 and host Prairie State College 25-19, 25-23, 25-16.
“I was really excited about our performance on Friday night,” commented Ancilla coach Lana Singleton. “Saturday, on the other hand, was disappointing.”
Once again, Ancilla posted a balanced performance from their team. All-Tournament selection Lauren Krempec led the Lady Chargers with 31 kills, while contributing six blocks and 42 digs. Alyssa Suter was tops for Ancilla with 11.5 blocks and three aces and pitched in with 18 kills. Danielle Burge led Ancilla with 58 digs, while Demi Schrader assisted on 110 of Ancilla’s 141 kills for the tournament. Other top contributors for the Lady Chargers included Erika Combs (28 kills and 46 digs), Jordan Hopper (22 kills and 11 blocks), and Nicole Trudell (49 digs).
Ancilla finished the tournament in third place out of the six teams that competed.
Ancilla (9-19, 0-9 MCCAA) returns home to face Kellogg Community College (19-9, 6-3 MCCAA) on Tuesday, October 12 at 6:30 p.m. Ancilla plays their home matches in the Charger Arena at the LifePlex of Plymouth, Indiana.
