PLYMOUTH – The Ancilla College men’s basketball team couldn’t keep pace with NJCAA #2 Joliet Junior College’s high scoring offense as the Chargers lost 104-69 on Saturday at the LifePlex in Plymouth.
Ellis Cole and Michael Hornback each scored 11 points to lead Ancilla (1-4) in scoring as the Chargers dropped their fourth straight contest.
Joliet (9-1), the defending NJCAA Division 3 champions, was led by Andy Supergan with 20 points.
“Joliet played winning basketball and took advantage of every one of our mistakes on both ends of the floor,” said Ancilla head coach Greg Neeley.
Ancilla struggled to get into any sort of rhythm offensively, shooting only 31 percent (24-of-77) from the floor and trailed 52-30 at halftime.
Denver Combs was the only other Ancilla player to score in double figures, contributing 10 points on the night.
“We have to learn from non-conference games like this one,” said Neeley. “Playing good teams in December will hopefully prepare us for the conference season.”
Ancilla will resume play on Dec. 10 when they travel to Bloomfield Hills, MI, to play MCCAA Eastern Conference foe Oakland Community College. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. EST.
