10/20/10 The Argos Lions Club announces the kick-off of their 40th annual Citrus Fund-raising Drive. During this year’s sale, members will be taking orders throughout the area for delicious grove-fresh Texas Citrus “Sensations”. The Drive, “Delicious Fruit for a Good Community Cause” is needed to raise the funds for the many Argos Lions Club projects. The sales drive will be conducted from now until November 15th. Deliveries will begin on Monday, November 22, just in time for Thanksgiving and the Holiday season.
Citrus project supporters may choose from Texas River Royal Sugar Sweet Navel Oranges, Ruby Red grapefruit, Holiday Fruit Trays, or 1# Bags of Mammoth Pecan Halves. Available quantities of citrus are a 40# box priced at $24.00, a 20# bag for $16.00, or a 10# bag for $10.00. Holiday Fruit Trays contain 36 pieces of fruit (navel oranges, red grapefruit, and apples) are priced at $24.00; and are also available in half bags (18 pieces of fruit) for $16.00.One pound bags of pecan halves are priced at $10.00
Argos Lions Club Citrus Sale Chairman Jerry Gates commented on this year’s drive, “We anticipate another good year for citrus sales. Fruit sales account for over 70% of our annual income. Everyone loves fresh Texas citrus fruit, and by supporting this drive BOTH the Argos Lions Club and the citrus buyer are winners.”
