In order to accommodate more children this year the Missoula Children’s Theatre is coming TWICE to Plymouth this summer.  Free auditions for children entering first grade through age 18 will take place at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 7, for “Treasure Island” and 9 a.m. on Monday, June 21, for “The Frog Prince.”   Auditions will be conducted at the Menominee Elementary School Gymnasium.

Registration for audition begins at 8:30 a.m. in order to allow students and their parent’s time to complete and sign required forms.  Students must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the two-hour session. The first rehearsal will begin 30 minutes after the audition ends.  Children may be in only one production, unless space permits.

This is a group audition.  No advance preparation is necessary, but a smile never hurts.  In the past, everyone who auditioned was not cast.  Prepare your child for this possibility.  There are only 50 to 60 roles per show.  Everyone who auditions will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone, courtesy of DQ Grill & Chill.

Assistant Director (AD) roles are available for those students who want to be involved behind the scenes.  During the audition, the tour actor/directors ask if anyone, ages 10 and older, wants to be an AD.  Four to six ADs are selected for each production to help teach and direct the show early in the week, as well as take on technical responsibilities at performance time.  Their logistical help and creative ideas are a vital part of the MCT process and the experience of the ADs can be just as valuable as that of any cast member.  Students wanting to be ADs are required to take part in the audition session.

Rehearsals are 9 to 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. June 7-11 for “Treasure Island” and June 21-25 for “The Frog Prince” in the Menominee Gymnasium and Young Outdoor Amphitheater.  All cast members will not be needed at every session, but those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week, and if selected be able to attend all rehearsals required for their roles.

A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed at the conclusion of the auditions.  Performances of “Treasure Island” will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, June 11, and Saturday, June 12, and “The Frog Prince” will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, June 25, and Saturday, June 26, at the Young Outdoor Amphitheater in Centennial Park.  The casts will be called for dress rehearsal three hours before the Friday performances.
