12/27/10 Plans are underway for the second annual Care and Share Dinner and Silent Auction on Thursday, February 24th at the Plymouth Wesleyan Church.

Care and Share is currently seeking items for the silent auction.  Anyone wishing to donate items should call the office at 941-2273 or Dave Hogsett, president at 936-6927.

The evening will include registration from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with bidding on items and a time of fellowship.  Dinner will follow at 7 p.m. with a program to follow.  The speaker for this year’s Care and Share Annual Dinner and Silent Auction is Sister Shirley Bell, Director of the Maria Center at the Catherine Kasper Live Center in Donaldson.

Sister Shirley is a member of the Catholic congregation of women religious, the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.  She received an Associates of Arts degree from Ancilla before graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from DePaul University in Chicago.

She spent 10 years in nursing practice, primarily in emergency nursing and staff education.  During that time she also volunteered three months with Catholic Relief Services and CARE, serving in a Cambodian refugee camp in Thailand.

Sister Shirley has served two terms, 14 years, on her congregation’s leadership team.  Between the terms she earned a masters degree in Pastoral Studies from the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University and served 7 years as her congregation’s formation director for women entering the congregation.  She is currently Director of Maria Center, an independent apartment community for retired seniors located in Donaldson.  Sister Shirley is also a member of the Plymouth Rotary Club.

Tickets for the Care and Share Dinner and Silent Auction are $15.
