Six players scored in double figures for the Pioneers (1-1) while Antonio Cannon was the only player to reach double figures for Ancilla (1-1) with 16 points.
The Chargers were sharp early on, opening the game with a 7-0 lead. After that, however, the game belonged to Delta.
The Pioneers led 51-33 at the half, holding Ancilla to just 33 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes. Delta also forced the Chargers into 21 turnovers while only committing 12 throughout the game.
“Delta has a good team and really exposed a lot of our weaknesses,” said Ancilla head coach Greg Neeley. “We have to learn from this if we want to be a good basketball team.”
The Chargers will resume play on Saturday, November 20 when they host Edison Community College as part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader at the LifePlex in Plymouth. The women will tipoff at 1:00 p.m., followed by a 3:00 p.m. tipoff for the men. Both games will be broadcast by local radio station WTCA AM1050 and can also be heard at www.am1050.com
