12/29/10 The Plymouth City Council passed an ordinance to amend the list of items that require building permits on second reading Monday night, but the ordinance will have to wait for final passage at the January 10th meeting.

The ordinance amendment has a new permit fee of $100 that would allow foundations to be laid while contractors await approval for state permits on further construction on mainly commercial ventures.

Other additional fees included in the ordinance amendment include replacement of bulk storage tanks, piping or dispensing equipment for commercial fuel stations at $40 and a permit for parking lots with fees ranging from $100 for a lot size less than 2,500 square feet and going up to $300 for a lot size between 5,001 to 10,000 square feet.  Parking lots over 10,000 square feet would pay $.01 per square foot over the 10,000 mark.

Several council members had questions about the ordinance amendment and voted to pass the measure on second reading.  They requested Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds be present at the January 10th meeting to answer their questions about the ordinance amendment.
