10/27/10 Monday night the Plymouth Common Council took the first of two steps in the Tax Abatement Process for Whitley Products. They unanimously passed a resolution declaring the real estate to be within an “Economic Revitalization Area.”
Whitley Products will invest just over $1 million in new equipment. The expansion is the result of a major contract awarded to Whitley by an international agricultural equipment manufacturer.
“Marshall County is pleased to support Whitley’s aggressive effort to capture this business and bring it to our area,” said Jennifer Laurent, Marshall County Economic Development Executive Director during the Council meeting. “They are a company confidently navigating the global marketplace, and have set their sights on even more growth in the future. We are making it easy for them to implement that plan here in Plymouth,” she said.
Monday night, Rick Green, Plant Manager asked for a five year abatement on the personal property portion of the project.
The City Council will conduct a Public Hearing on November 8th for the Tax Abatement request.
