Cornhole Tournament to Benefit Plymouth Fire Department

September 23, 2010
By

09/24/10 When Andy Metsker put out a call for monetary donations for the National Fire Safety Council’s Education program, Plymouth Trinity United Methodist Church wanted to do more than put an announcement in their church bulletin. They are organizing a fund-raiser for the Plymouth Fire Chief. A Cornhole Tournament and Tailgate Party are planned for Saturday, September 25 with all the proceeds going to the Plymouth Fire Department to help fund the Firepup program. “We honor our firemen each year with a special worship service and dinner,” said Barb Holcomb Outreach Chairman, “but we wanted to put actions with our words.”

The Cornhole Tournament will be held in the church parking lot on south Michigan Street starting with registration at 3:45 PM and the games starting at 4:00 PM. Entry fee is $10.00 per team of two. A Cornhole game will be awarded to the winners of the tournament.

Hotdogs and brats as well as other tailgate food will be served during the tournament. A bounce house and other children’s activities will also be available. Monetary donations will be accepted.

The National Fire Safety Council is a non-profit organization that works with local fire departments to provide fire safety educational materials to area schools. Firepup, the Dalmatian cartoon character mascot, presents fire safety in a friendly, fun and non-threatening way to children.
