Friday morning Officer Rick Kanarr with the Sheriff’s Department investigated a three vehicle crash on US 30 at Beech Road.

A 9-1-1 call at 11:05 a.m. send emergency crews to the intersection where 27 year old Andrew J. Cook of Etna Green had attempted to cross south bound over US 30 in a 2000 Ford F-150.  Cooke told Officer Kanarr he failed to see oncoming traffic.  Cook pulled out in front of a 2001 Chevrolet Trail Blazer driven by 36 year old Amy L Bowen of Plymouth that was east bound on US 30.

The impact caused the Blazer to roll over several times and it came to rest in a ditch on the south side of US 30.  Ms. Bowen was able to get herself out of the vehicle prior to emergency workers arriving on scene.

The impact caused Cook’s truck to spin around 180 degrees and strike another vehicle that was sitting on Beech Road heading north waiting to get onto US 30.  That vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Impala was driven by 56 year old Don Fenstermaker of Rochester.

During his investigation, Officer Kanarr suspected that Cook was driving under the influence.  He was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for further testing.  Cook tested positive for marijuana and he was arrested.

Amy Bowen complained of pain to the neck and ribs and had minor facial lacerations.
