Incident at PHS Prompts Police Call

September 17, 2010

Plymouth Police were called to Plymouth High School earlier this week after an incident involving two female students. According to information received from the Police Department, one student was shoved by the other making her fall into a glass partition (display case).

The glass broke and one of  students did receive very minor cuts, according to the report.

Plymouth Schools Superintendent Dan Tyree said, “I’m 100 percent supportive of the principal’s handling of the situation.” He added, “Fortunately it was minor, but it could have resulted in a major injury.”

Although privacy laws prohibit the school administrators from commenting on what discipline measures were taken, the student handbook does allow an immediate suspension and a possible recommendation for expulsion for this type of infraction.

According to the statement from the police department, a report on the incident will be competed and filed with the Marshall County Prosecutor’s office.
