12/13/10 The National Weather Service has issued Winter Weather Advisories that will remain in effect for most of the state until midday on Monday, Dec. 13.  The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has deployed more than 900 yellow plow trucks to clear and treat all state roads, interstates and U.S. highways.  INDOT recognizes the dedication of its professional plow truck drivers and support staff, many of whom have been working alternating 12-hour shifts for consecutive weekends.

High winds are blowing snow onto previously cleared highways statewide and causing limited visibility.  Pavement temperatures are predicted to drop into the teens and low 20s prior to the Monday morning rush, making it more difficult for salt and other chemicals to melt frozen accumulation.  Lake effect snow should continue into tomorrow with heavy accumulation expected for northwestern and north central Indiana.  Road conditions reported by INDOT crews and National Weather Service alerts are available online at TrafficWise.IN.gov or by dialing 800-261-ROAD (7623).
