PLYMOUTH, INDIANA – The Ancilla College volleyball team returned to Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference action with a 25-20, 25-13, 25-11 loss to Kellogg Community College (20-10, 7-3 MCCAA).
“I really feel the girls played right with Kellogg the first 14 points or so,” started Ancilla coach Lana Singleton. “We were playing to win while we were ahead. When Kellogg fought back and tied it in the first game, the girls lost confidence and quit playing to win. Kellogg is a good team. They are well-coached with some outstanding players. We were having a hard time defending the quick offense out of the middle with tall Kellogg players who jump extremely well. A total of 22 kills and 21 hitting errors did not help our game plan, either.”
Ancilla was led with five kills each from Alyssa Suter and Brandy Sechrist. Demi Schrader assisted on 16 kills. Suter and Miranda Hammons finished with two blocks each, while Hammons and Danielle Burge led the team with 10 digs each.
Ancilla (9-20, 0-10 MCCAA) travels to Lansing Community College (16-14, 6-4 MCCAA) on Thursday, October 14. Their next home match is Tuesday, October 19 against NJCAA #14 Muskegon Community College (26-5, 8-2 MCCAA). Both matches begin at 6:30 p.m. Ancilla plays their home matches in the Charger Arena at the LifePlex of Plymouth, Indiana.
