Lady Pilgrims even NLC record after 30-25 win over Northwood

December 20, 2010

It was not a well played game for the Lady Pilgrims in thier five point win over Northwood, 30-25 on Saturday.

“This win was a big win for us, but not a well played game by us at all”, said Head Coach Dave Cox.  “We started out slow offensively for some reason.  Good news Northwood didn’t play any better”.

Numbers indicated that by halftime with a 13-12 score Northwood.  The scoring never got better for Plymouth as they mustered a mere two points in the third quarter.

“We won the ballgame in the second half thanks to our defensive effort, specifically in the 4th quarter when we allowed Northwood only fives points. “, said Cox.

Northwood self-destructed in the final quarter turning the ball over on almost half of their possessions.  It allowed Plymouth to creep back into the game and take the lead for good.  Plymouth outscored Northwood 16-5 in the final frame.

“I haven’t seen that happen to a Northwood team in  a long time, we were just lucky we finally started scoring in that fourth quarter.  Megan Barron hit a couple of jumpers, Marissa Green knocked down a huge three pointer, we just started hitting shots at the right time and didn’t allow them chances that they had in the first three quarters.”, added Cox.

The Lady Pilgrims (8-2) (1-1 NLC) will get set for the Wawasee Shoot Out after Christmas.
