LJHS sports results from 9/10/10

It was quite a busy Saturday for LJHS student athletes.  Here are the results from teams participating:

8th grade football:  After dropping their first two games of the season to Triton and LaPorte Boston, the Red Storm pulled out a narrow victory over Northwood on Saturday.  The final score was 16-14.  Offensive leaders for the Red Storm were Kyle Lacefield, Justin Drudge, and Michael Kaser.  The defensive leaders were Konner Smith, Ben Schenk, Caleb Weirs, Christian Bastardo, Dakota Nussell, and Chandler Lamb.  Ryan MacLain returned a kick off for a touchdown.

7th grade football:  Lincoln Junior High’s 7th grade football team lost a wet, slippery game to the Northwood Panthers, 38-6.  After receiving the opening kickoff, running back Jacob Rachiele broke through the line on the second play of the game for a 56-yard touchdown.  The Red Storm was unable to keep pace with the Panthers.  Their record now stands at 1-2.  They will be back in action on Tuesday against conference rival, Warsaw Edgewood.

6th-7th-8th grade girl’s cross country:  On Saturday the Lincoln Red Storm participated in the Indian Springs Invitational  Columbia City.  The Lincoln girls finished 15th out of 22 teams.  With a time of 13:12, Brooke Wagoner led the Lincoln squad which also included Libby Read, Alyssa Clyde, Briana Noodwang, Rachel Rettig, and Abby Patrick.  The girls reserve team finished in 8th place.  Their top five runners were Elise Patrick with a time of 14:32, Morgan Oberly, Kirstin Riise, Chase Holzwart, and Grace Hilty.

6th-7th-8th grade boys cross country:  The boys cross country team finished in 19th place at the Indian Spings Invitational.  With a time of 12:35, Tim Fonseca led the Red Storm team of Kennedy Schneiders, Kameron Ray, Zach Hutchings, Damien Krueger, and Dylan Noble.  The reserve team finished in 12th place.  Their top five runners were Chris Noodwang with a time of 15:05, John Hunter, Garrick Nate, Colin Graber, and Zach Moser.  The Red Storm will be in action again on Tuesday when they take on Wawasee and Whitko in Centenniel Park.
