Saturday afternoon at 4:42 p.m. County Police Officer Les McFarland responded to the area of US 6 and Kenilworth Road for a single vehicle accident after a 9-1-1 call was received of a vehicle hitting a utility pole.
Officer McFarland discovered that 32 year old Keith A. Nickerson Jr. of Bremen was driving a 1993 Chevy Pick-up truck and went off the roadway hitting a NIPSCO pole and a Sprint telephone junction box.
Nickerson told Officer McFarland that he may have fallen asleep, causing the accident. Nickerson’s license was restricted for glasses or contacts and allegedly he did not have glasses or contacts on prior to the accident.
Keith Nickerson was given a traffic citation for violation of a driver’s license restriction, a class C misdemeanor.
Nickerson denied medical treatment at the scene.
Officer McFarland was assisted at the scene by LaPaz Police, Fire and EMS and Bremen Police.
