PLYMOUTH-Third ranked in Class 1A, Triton Trojans made a statement Tuesday night at the Rock in their impressive 55-37 win over the Pilgrims.
âWe knew Triton was the real deal. They have so many weapons that it’s hard to concentrate just on one person or even one aspect of their game.â, said Asst. Coach Tony Plothow on the WTCA Post-Game Show.
Plymouth played a strong first half against the Trojans trailing by only 5 points (18-13) by halftime. Seven Plymouth turnovers led to seven points for Triton in the first half while Triton had seven turnovers giving Plymouth five points.
âThis game is a funny game. One turnover kept the game from being tied at halftime when you break it down.â, said Coach Plothow. âWe didn’t come out in the second half with the intensity it takes to keep Triton from getting runs on you, and the score was a result of that.â
Triton’s sophmore, Clay Yeo, was one reason Triton dominated the third quarter as he scored 13 points in the quarter, after a 5 point first half.
âHe couldn’t miss! We also let him get good looks outside and three easy âlobsâ in which we never stopped.â, said Coach. Yeo finished with 25 pts, 20 in the second half alone.
âTriton was a good test for us. We have some things to figure out e eading into the Rochester game on Friday. They like using that 1-3-1 halfcourt defense that gave us fits tonight. We have to make the adjustment offensively if we want to win.â, said Plothow.
Next Game: Friday vs Rochester. WTCA pre-game show with Scott Masters, Tony Ross, & John Scott begins at 7:00pm.
