11/30/10 Last Wednesday morning the Marshall County Commissioners conducted a ribbon cutting event for the new section of Pioneer Road between State Road 17 and Lincoln Highway.

Kevin Overmyer, President of the Commissioners welcomed those gathered and introduced former commissioners Cliff Alan and Don Fergerson who were on the board when this project got started back in 2001.  Also present were representatives from MACOG, INDOT and DLZ.

The entire project stretches between the two major roads, US 30 and State Road 17 with the section south of Lincoln Highway, 1.05 miles being a completely new roadway that was created with the acquisition of property from four different property owners.  Along with the new Pioneer Road and the improvements of Pioneer Drive south of Lincoln is the 9th Road is the new connector between 9th Road and Lincoln Highway that was also opened last week.

Commissioner Overmyer wants to remind driver to please drive cautiously on the new section of Pioneer Road particularly by the wooded area as there seems to be several deer in that area which are not used to the traveling public.
