10/11/10 Everyone enjoys a “Coloring Contest” and if you like to color, this is your chance to win some great prizes.   The Plymouth Public Library is having a coloring contest in recognition of “Polish American Heritage Month,” which is celebrated every October.  Children in the 1st through 5th grades are eligible to participate.  Six winners and several honorable mentions will be chosen.  First Prize Winner will receive $25.00, two Second Prize Winners will receive $10.00 each, and three Third Prize Winners will receive $5.00 each.

This contest is being sponsored by the Polish Cultural Society of Indiana and the Polish American Congress.  This year’s theme focuses on the, “200th Anniversary of the birth of Fryderyk Chopin, world-renowned pianist and composer of Polish heritage.” Today amongst the masters of great musicians, the name Fryderyk Chopin is remembered not only as the greatest of polish composers, but also as a great representative of Polish culture. People of all nationalities should reflect on their heritage and remind themselves that they are all a part of the “Great American Mosaic.”  The national coloring contest artwork features a portrait of Fryderyk Chopin.

The judging will take place in November by members of the Polish Cultural Society of Indiana, and the winners will be notified shortly after. Coloring pages are now available in the Children’s Room.  Completed pictures should be returned to the Children’s Room by October 31st.  For more information call the Plymouth Public Library at 936-2324 and press 2 for the Children’s Room.
