During the school year, many children receive free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch through the School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs. What happens when school lets out? Hunger is one of the most severe roadblocks to the learning process. Lack of nutrition during the summer months may set up a cycle for poor performance once school begins again. Hunger also may make children more prone to illness and other health issues. The Summer Food Service Program is designed to fill that nutrition gap and make sure children can get the nutritious meals they need.

The free breakfast and lunch programs started on Monday in the Plymouth Community School Corporation.  The program is open to all children in the school district.

Lunches are now being served at Plymouth High School from 11:30 to 1 p.m.  and will be served weekdays until July 2nd.  Any child in the Plymouth school district is welcome to come in and enjoy a healthy lunch at no charge.

Beginning on July 6th and continuing until July 30th breakfast will be served at the high school from 7:30 to 8:30 and lunch from 11:30 to 1 p.m.  Breakfast and lunches will also be served at Riverside Intermediate School from July 6th through the 30th and then lunch only August 2nd through the 6th

The free breakfast and lunches are offered in the school system through the US Department of Agriculture.
