09/30/10 Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita is reminding Hoosiers of the upcoming voter registration deadline which is this coming Monday, Oct. 4. Hoosiers can register to vote by visiting their local county clerk’s office or a Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch, as well as by downloading or filling out an online application before midnight Monday at www.IndianaVoters.com.

Hoosiers can also update their voter registration information, check their absentee ballot application status, locate their polling places and find out the candidates who will appear on the ballots at www.IndianaVoters.com. Hoosiers may also register to vote using a mobile device – a valid Indiana driver’s license number or Indiana issued state ID number must be submitted in order to use the mobile tool.

“The IndianaVoters.com website was created to serve as a one stop shop for Hoosier voters,” Secretary Rokita said. “To date, more than 13,000 individuals have submitted a new online voter registration or updated their information through the website. I encourage all Hoosiers who still need to register to vote or update their registration before the General Election to complete the application online or download the form through the Web portal.”

In order to vote in the Nov. 2 election, individuals must complete and submit an online registration form by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 4, or mail a paper-based application postmarked by Oct. 4. If the form is submitted after that time, the registration will not be processed until after this year’s General Election, only allowing the person to vote in the next election.

Hoosier voters can visit www.IndianaVoters.com to:
• Find absentee voting applications,
• Find information on how to prepare for Election Day,
• Determine if they are registered to vote,
• Find information on Indiana’s photo ID requirement,
• Locate their polling place, and
• Find information on how to cast an absentee ballot.
