10/19/10 Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita announced today a new, mobile version of the Hoosier voter website, www.IndianaVoters.com. Last month, Secretary Rokita unveiled a similar mobile, online tool allowing individuals to register to vote for the upcoming General Election. This latest update enables the entire www.IndianaVoters.com website to be accessible through a person’s mobile device.

“From past elections, we know individuals find this website beneficial – especially in the days just before an election – and are using it to better educate themselves before making their final decisions,” Secretary Rokita said. “The site garnered nearly 2 million visits during the month leading up to the 2008 General Election. This latest enhancement to IndianaVoters.com hopes to continue providing accessibility and increasing convenience to Hoosier voters during this year’s election season.”

Individuals with Internet-enabled mobile devices can view www.IndianaVoters.com in a mobile interface – an enhancement providing a better view of the full website and aims to give users more convenience to access important voter information.

So far this year, the site recorded nearly 30,000 new or updated voter registration applications being submitted and logged more than 1 million visits.

The site also offers several other helpful resources to help better prepare Hoosiers for Election Day. Before going to the polls, registered voters can visit www.IndianaVoters.com to locate their polling places, view the complete list of candidates who will appear on their ballots, confirm their voter registration and find important Election Day contact numbers.

Secretary Rokita also said the mobile site will contain a link to the full, html website. The link will give individuals access to the site’s other resources, such as campaign finance records – data on donations collected by each candidate and the funds’ source – and a tool supplying the status of an absentee ballot application to those who completed the form.

Launched in January 2006, the website serves as Indiana’s Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) public information online resource. An initiative of the Secretary of State’s office, the goal of the SVRS is to achieve a single, uniform electronic database containing the voter registration records for all of Indiana’s 92 counties.
