The 4th Annual Yellow River Festival kicks off Saturday, June 5 at 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. The day will be filled with period food, music, dancing, crafts, Indian dances and demonstrations as well as games reflecting the first 30 years of Marshall County history encompassing 1834-1864.
Not-for-profit groups will again be selling food and crafts reflecting the period as a fundraiser. Returning from last year will be chicken and noodles, BBQ chicken, ribs and turkey legs, sweet corn, rib-eye steak sandwiches and buffalo burgers, kettle korn and homemade ice cream with fruit cobblers! Optimist Club is coming on board with biscuits and gravy and ‘cowboy’ coffee. Women of the Moose will be offering pulled pork sandwiches and baked beans. New vendors are welcome. Call Linda Anders at 936-3744 or 952-3744 for an application form. Cost this year is $50 to help with overhead.
George Schricker has filled the day with music and dancing from beginning to end culminating in Kennedy’s Kitchen from 7 to 8 p.m. Other performers include Yesterday’s News, George and Michelle Schricker, Freedom, Sligo Towne, Mary Prochaska, Mark and Liza Woolever, Pay and Piper and Starch and Iron. The music line-up is full though George is still looking for ‘wanna be’ musicians who’d like to do ‘Open Mic’. Call him at 276-1186.
