Joint Boards Interview Design Companies for Downtown Park

04/22/11 Wednesday evening a special joint meeting of the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission and Park Board was held to interview prospective Design Companies for the downtown park.

Each of the companies were allowed 20 minutes to tell members what they are all about, what they have done in the past, and how they would proceed with the project.  Board members were then allowed 10 minutes to ask questions.

Mayor Mark Senter said that each of the four companies have a connection to Plymouth.  GAI Consultants from Valparaiso will be working with KKG.  Their connection is local engineer Mike Strang.

The Troyer Group from Mishawaka was the company selected to design the first phase of the Greenway Trail.

Lehman and Lehman from Mishawaka worked on the BDI study several years ago while the last company, Hitchcock from Naperville, Illinois will be working with Ballinger and Lach from South Bend.  Steve Benczik who works with Ballinger and Lach was with the Troyer Group when they did the Greenway Trail.  He also served the city as a member of the Sewer Board for several years.

The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission has budget $41,000 for the design phase of the Downtown Park.

The Plymouth Park Board is scheduled to announce their choice during their meeting on May 2nd while the Redevelopment Commission will make their selection during their meeting on May 17th.
