Hollingshed takes Season Opening Crash Bash at the Plymouth Speedway

May 18, 2011

05/19/11 This past Saturday night the Plymouth Speedway hosted the first crash bash of the 2011 season. Mother Nature tried her best to spoil the event but the officials, drivers, and fans prevailed for a great show of will.

The first event of the evening was the spectator figure 8 drags. Darin Mailler held off all competitors as he strolled across the line to win the two lap final event.

Next was the rollover contest where Scarecrow failed to hit the ramp with his first attempt when his car burst into flames in a spectacle stunt. After he jumped into a second car he was able to hold off Wild Bill Lovely of Plymouth for the win with thirteen points in only attempt at the ramp.

Rick Hollingshed had the best ride throughout the demolition derby and held on for the win after three red flags were flown for safety reasons. Finishing second was Bruce McGuire III and finishing third was David Maerrell.

The trailer race capped off the night’s events with a twenty lap affair that was full of excitement and many laughs to go along with it. After the twenty lap event Dave Stahly picked up the checkered flag and he was followed across the line in second by Rick Hollingshed and David Merrell got his second podium finish of the night.

Do not forget to tune into to the Plymouth Speedway’s Thursday Night Thunder presented by the Bear’s Den with Andrew Hayn on WTCA 1050 am this Thursday night at six o’clock for a preview of the season and we will see you at the track Friday night at eight.
