County Officer Cooper Makes Arrest

5/31/11 Marshall County Police arrest two in traffic stops early Friday morning.

Patrolman Cooper of the Marshall County Police Department stayed busy early Friday, May 27th. Around 1:45 a.m. The officer made a routine traffic stop on US 30 east of Oak Road. Upon investigation it was determined that the driver, 26 year old Samuel Rice of Bellevus, Nebraska was in possession of Marijuana, as well as paraphernalia. Mr. Rice was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Plymouth where it was determined he was under the influence of a controlled substance. Mr. Rice was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail for operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. Rice had a cash bond of $1000.00, and is scheduled to appear in Marshall County Superior Court #2 on June 28th.

A couple hours later Cooper again made another traffic stop at 6:04 a.m. at the intersection of Michigan Road and 7B Road. It was determined that driver Timothy Elsea of Plymouth was driving while suspended with a prior charge. Mr. Elsea was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail for Driving While Suspended/Prior with a $750.00 cash bond. His court appearance is scheduled for June 28th in Marshall County Superior Court #2.
