05/02/11  The Plymouth Schools administration issued a press release late Friday afternoon concerning the invalidation of a portion of ISTEP (Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress) tests for approximately 120 8th grade students at Lincoln Junior High.

The release contained the following: “This action is being taken because these students received a review sheet in class that contained several questions that were on a portion of this year’s Multiple Choice test taken this week.”

“The students did nothing wrong. Their grades and advancement to 9th grade will not affected by this incident.”

“We are fully investigating the incident to determine how this occurred. We believe the integrity of the ISTEP testing process to be of the utmost importance and this is why we have made the determination to invalidate this portion of the test and conduct an investigation.”

“We have self reported this incident to the Indiana Department of Education and are working closely with them to ensure proper procedures are followed.”

Superintendent Daniel Tyree said, “The parents of the students affected have been notified in a letter.” He added, “At this time, we are not releasing specific details of incident. We do not want anything to interfere with the investigation.”
