02/21/11 Two people were injured Thursday evening in a single vehicle crash on US .S. 31 just north of 7th Road.

Marshall County Police were dispatched at 4:56 p.m. to the scene where a 1998 Freightliner flatbed truck ran off the east side of the roadway and rolled complete over before coming to rest in a deep ditch.

56 year old Larry Allen from Kentucky was driving a 1998 flatbed truck loaded with portable lightweight steel agricultural fencing.  Allen told Officer Jeff Snyder that he could not recall what happened but he believed that he had fallen asleep while driving.  The truck traveled off the side of the roadway, rolled completely over as it rolled down a steep ditch embankment and came to rest in an upright position.

The passenger in the vehicle, 23 year old Rebecca Sagracy also of Kentucky was conscious and alert when Plymouth paramedics arrived on the scene.  She was trapped in the truck and had to be extricated.  She had no feeling in her lower body and was airlifted by MedFlight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

The driver, 56 year old Larry Allen was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for a complaint of pain in his neck and back.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Fire and EMS and the Indiana State Department of Transportation for traffic control while the truck was removed from the ditch by Lion’s Wrecker Service.
