08/18/11 The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces lanes on the U.S. 20/31 bypass will be closed for 20 to 30 minute intervals between State Road 23 and U.S. 31 during the day on Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19. Crews will be using large cranes to lift concrete beams over the highway to construct the new Ireland Road bridge.

The work will begin at 9:30 a.m. and last until 4 p.m. each day. Work will close the eastbound lanes on Thursday and the westbound lanes on Friday. The closures are necessary to ensure the safety of the motoring public. After each beam is installed, the highway will reopen to traffic while crews prepare the next beam for placement.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, visit www.in.gov/indot.
