04/08/11 The Marshall County Council on Aging is hosting the AARP Driver Safety Program at the Life Enrichment Center on Thursday, May 19, 2011. The class will be held from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, and box lunches will be available for purchase to those who RSVP.

Although the program is geared towards drivers over 50, all ages of drivers are encouraged to attend. In this course, you will learn:

* Defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road

* How to deal with aggressive drivers

* How to handle problem situations such as left turns, right-of-way, interstate highway traffic, trucks, and blind spots

* How to safely use anti-lock brakes, air bags, and safety belts.

In addition, completing the program qualifies drivers for discounts with many auto insurance carriers. The cost of the AARP Driver Safety Program is $ 12 for members (with card), and $14 for non-members. Class size is limited to the first 35 people.
