American Legion Post 27 finishes 2-3 in Minny!

It wasn’t quite the finish as it started out for the Plymouth Post 27 in the Gopher Baseball Classic in Minnapolis, MN this past weekend.

Post 27 has played 4 games in 10 days including two prominent tournament venues on their schedule.

Plymouth started off the tournament winning their first two games behind Plymouth’s number one and number two pitchers, James Hackworth (Tippy Valley) and Sean Lidtky (Glenn).

Hackworth threw a PERFECT game against Gillette Wyoming in the 8-0 win.  Then Sean Lidtky blanked Sartell, MN 6-0 allowing only two hits in the ballgame.

Games three, four and five seen Plymouth’s pitching depth get exposed losing 10-1 to Eastview MN in the third game, where Plymouth left 11 runners on base, three times with the bases loaded.

Game 4 was a seven inning loss to Fridley MN 10-1 in 6 innings.   Sunday game faired no better, when Plymouth lost to Bloomington Gold MN 11-7 in their final tournament game.

Plymouth will get ready for a two team Sectional tournament starting this Friday night at 7:30pm at Bill Nixon Field.  Valporaiso Post 94 will come to town.   Saturday, game two will start at 1pm, if necessary, a game 3 will follow to determine a Regional qualifier.
