The sophomore is the first player in program history to earn the award. By virtue of his selection, Lewis is eligible for selection to the Capital One Academic All-America team.
“It’s a great honor for a very deserving young man,” said Ancilla College men’s soccer coach James Drzewiecki. “Since I’ve been here, no one player has excelled so thoroughly on and off the field as Horraine has. He’s a shining example of what a student-athlete should be.”
The award is yet another in a list of accolades that have been given to the Hopewell, Jamaica native this year.
Lewis captained Ancilla College to a 9-7-1 record in 2011, earning MCCAA all-conference and NJCAA Region 12 first team all-region honors for his efforts.
He currently majors in Business Administration.
The Capital One Academic All-District and All-America teams are presented in affiliation with CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his or her current institution.
