DONALDSON, INDIANA – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recently released their 2011 Academic Scholar-Athlete Team, which included Ancilla College softball players Demi Schrader and Trisha Dillon.
Schrader, a sophomore, received this honor as a freshman, becoming just the third Charger to receive the award in both years at Ancilla. Dillon, a freshman, becomes the thirteenth member of the Ancilla softball program to be honored by the NFCA in the eleven years of Charger softball.
The Lady Charger softball team was also honored for their 3.184 GPA with a ranking of 23rd in the nation.
“I’m very proud of the individual accomplishments of both Demi and Trisha, as well as the final team GPA and ranking,” began Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “Our GPA was the highest of any softball team in school history and was the seventh team in ten years to be ranked in the top 25 by the NFCA. We set high academic standards for all of our student-athletes here at Ancilla and our softball team works hard to exceed expectations in the classroom at all times. Although the success in the classroom and high graduation rate is what is most important, it’s always nice to be recognized for that hard work.”
