03/02/11 For the first time in its history, Ancilla College will host the both the NJCAA District 8 Men’s Basketball Tournament and the NJCAA District G Women’s Basketball Tournament this weekend at the LifePlex in Plymouth.
Ancilla College has proven its ability as a host, successfully organizing the women’s tournament each of the past two years. This is the first time, however, that Ancilla will host the men’s tournament as well, and Ancilla College Athletic Director Gene Reese couldn’t be any more excited.
“It is a tremendous opportunity to host the district tournament for the third straight year,” said Reese. “I would invite everyone to come out and see outstanding junior college basketball on Friday and Saturday. We are planning for additional seating at the LifePlex in Plymouth. Come one, come all.”
Admission will be $5.00 for one session and $8.00 for both sessions.
The women’s tournament will kick things off on Friday as top-seeded Muskegon Community College will host the winner of Tuesday’s play-in game between Lansing Community College and Jackson Community College. Tip-off is at 1:00 p.m. EST.
The second semi-final will feature the winner of Tuesday’s play-in game between Ancilla College and Lake Michigan College against the winner of Glen Oaks Community College and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Tip-off is at 3:00 p.m. EST.
