Ancilla, Ounce of Prevention Team Up for Highly Successful ‘Chargers for Change’

February 15, 2011

02/16/11 The Ancilla College athletic department and the Ounce of Prevention Foundation collected $2,125 to support breast cancer awareness through the efforts of their highly successful “Chargers for Change” event on Saturday.

Held at the LifePlex in conjunction with the men’s and women’s basketball games, all proceeds were used to benefit the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.  A collection at Bremen High School was also held to help raise funds.

“Chargers for Change” is an initiative created by the Ancilla College athletic department to help serve the underserved in the local community.

“I would like to thank each individual who came to our basketball games and contributed financially,” said Ancilla College Athletic Director Gene Reese.  “We are proud of the partnership between ‘Chargers for Change’ and Ounce of Prevention.”

Ounce of Prevention is a local foundation dedicated towards raising money to fight breast cancer.

“Overall, I felt that the excitement and the energy that day from all involved was contagious,” said Jessica Oliver, Co-chair of Ounce of Prevention.  “We raised awareness, raised money, and most of all we raised spirits.”

Ancilla College is a Catholic, two-year, co-educational, liberal arts college in Donaldson, Indiana sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
