Argos Boys & Girls Soccer bow out in Semi-State play over the weekend.

October 23, 2011

ARGOS:  GIRLS SEMI-STATE- It was going to be a challenge beat a state ranked Mishawaka Marian team in a second meeting and Lady Knights made sure of that by beating the Lady Dragons 3-1.  But it wasn’t without a an early scare.

Argos’ Jami Patterson got the scoring started in the 12th minute of the first half and held the lead but only for one minute.

Mishawaka Marian’s Lauren Wade tied it up at 1-1.  Then two minutes later, Denise Veldman made it 2-1 Lady Knights which proved to be the game winning goal.  Mishawaka’s Gabrielle Veldman matched her sister in the Second Half at the 77th minute of the game.     The Lady Dragons finish 14-7 on the season.

LAKEVILLE SEMI-STATE-It was a tough morning at Newton Park for the Boys team.  The Dragons fell behind early and could never recover.  Bethayn Christian was as good as advertised in a 8-0 win over Argos on Saturday morning.

“We just couldn’t get started.  It was just one of those games we were hoping to avoid, but couldn’t.”, said Argos Coach Todd Vandeweele.  “It is still a great season for Argos Soccer with both the Girls and us (Boys) making it Semi-State at the same time….being part of  school history.”

Argos finishes 13-7 on the season.
