05/31/11  Kala Marie Williams, daughter of Kevin and Barbara Williams, has earned the distinction of being named the Valedictorian of Argos Jr.-Sr. High’s Class of 2011.  Kala has earned a 3.919 on a 4.0 scale.

Kala has been active in numerous school organizations and activities during her four years at Argos Jr.-Sr. High School.  She participated in Fine Arts activities including Pep Band, Marching Band and Variety Show.   She has been involved in Argos Students in Service, Peer Mediator, National Honor Society, Junior Honor Society, Prom Committee and Sunshine Society.  She has also served as president for her class for the past two years.  Kala has enjoyed being a cheerleader for four year, serving as captain of the squad this year as well as being a member of the volleyball team the past two years..  She has also been active in 4-H where she has served as president of her local club.

Kala has represented Argos Jr.-Sr. High School at the Lugar’s Symposium for Tomorrow’s Leaders Seminar and Hoosier Girl’s State

Kala has volunteered for various community organizations including St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend Homeless Shelter, Argos United Methodist Youth Mission Trips to Louisiana, Texas and Ohio, Vacation Bible School, Breast Cancer Event, Red Cross Blood Drives, Health Fair at Washington Elementary School.  She also coordinated a school-wide Diabetes Awareness Clinic for her Senior Project.

Kala has received the following awards:  Academic Excellence Winner in Government, English 9, English 10, English 11, Speech,   Integrated  Physics/ Chemistry, World History, US History,  Spanish III,  Geometry as well as Gold Award Winner for  Band Solo and Ensembles, Academic High Honors, 100% Honor Roll, Academic Excellence Award, Americanism & Government Award,  American Legion Citizen Award.

She also has received the following scholarships: Distinguished Deans Scholarship University of Indianapolis, Plymouth St. Joseph Medical Center Health Scholarship, Plymouth St. Joseph Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship, Max & Lois Edmonds Scholarship, Helen G. & Gerald M. Hess Scholarship and Dollars for Scholars Valedictorian Scholarship

Kala plans to attend University of Indianapolis where she will study Pre-Medicine.

Alexandra Nicole Zechiel , daughter of Dean and Tina Zechiel, has earned the distinction of being named the Salutatorian of Argos Jr.-Sr. High’s Class of 2011.  Alex has earned a 3.8738 on a 4.0 scale.

Alex has been active in numerous school organizations and activities during her four years at Argos Jr.-Sr. High School.  She participated in Fine Arts activities including Variety Show & the Musical.   She has been involved in FFA, National Honor Society of which she served as President, Junior Honor Society, Student Council of which she served as President, Prom Committee and Sunshine Society. 

Alex participated in basketball and soccer for four years, serving as captain for both sports during her senior year.  She also participated in 4-H during her high school years. 

Alex has represented Argos Jr.-Sr. High School at the Lugar’s Symposium for Tomorrow’s Leaders Seminar, National FFA Convention and Beef Congress.

Alex has volunteered for various community organizations including Red Cross Blood Drives, Argos United Methodist Food Basket Program, Marshall County Humane Society, Sunshine Rake and Run, as well as serving as a volunteer intern at Bourbon Veterinary Clinic for half a day each day during her senior year.

Alex has received the following awards:  Academic Excellence Winner in Speech, Ag Mechanic, ICE Classroom, Academic High Honors, Honor Roll (3 years), Academic Excellence Award, DAR Good Citizen Award

She also has received the following scholarships: Indiana 4-H Foundation Scholarship, Northern Indiana Harvester Chapter 33 Collectors Club Scholarship, Samuel Elliott Perkins Memorial Scholarship, Charles Bradley/Kiwanis Scholarship, FFA Scholarship, Culver Young Farmers Scholarship, Walnut Township 4-H Scholarship, J.O. Thompson Scholarship, Ella Leeper Scholarship, Dollars for Scholars Salutatorian Scholarship

Alex plans to attend Purdue University where she will study Pre-Veterinary.
