02/07/11 The Argos Bowling Club just completed its first season in the Michiana West Conference with great results. The girls had a record of 5-8. The boys had a record of 1-12. For a first year program, Argos had 13 bowlers compete with other schools from Marshall and St. Joesph counties. There are 13 teams in this conference.
During team sectionals on Jan. 29th, the girls’ team finished 6th, only 80 pins away from qualifying for regionals. The girls’ total team score was 2, 143. The girls’ series were Abby Cohagan 304, Brittani Brown 174, Jamie Ewing 362, Jina Ewing 379, and Samantha Quimby 181. The girls’ Baker game scores were 181, 155, 123, 141, and 143.
The boys finished 10th in team sectionals. The boys’ total team score was 2,172. The boys’ series were Ben Krull 338, Joseph Ruffing 138, Noah Duff 342, Ryan Mullaney 115, Zach Dietl 276, and Zach Smith 227. The boys’ Baker game scores were 164, 161, 136, 163, and 112. Jordan Boulas also competed in the Baker games.
On January 30th in Singles competition, Jamie Ewing rolled a 570 series to finish 4th and qualify for the stepladder finals, where she finished 4th and qualified for Regionals. Ben Krull rolled a 612 series to finish 6th and qualify for Regionals. Abby Cohagan rolled a 509 series and finished 16th and is the girls’ alternate to Regionals. Regionals are Saturday, Feb. 5th at 9 AM in South Bend.
Other scores for Argos in the Singles tournament were Jina Ewing 490, Brittani Brown 336, Samantha Quimby 335, Zach Dietl 463, Noah Duff 346, Zach Smith 315, and Ryan Mullaney 339. Also participating with the bowling club this year was Olga Meza-Vega.
