02/01/11 Detective Leo Mangus with the Plymouth Police Department is investigating a reported case of possible child abuse.
On Wednesday, January 26th at 3:14 p.m. the Plymouth Police Department received a report regarding possible child abuse to a 21 month old baby that had suspicious injuries. The victim was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth and transferred to Riley Children’s Hospital where it was treated and released.
The police investigation determined that 21 year old Alexander Wagers of Argos had been watching the child at the time the victim received these injuries. Mr. Wagers had left the residence in the 1100 block of Lincolnway East after the grandmother had returned home. At that time the child was asleep.
Police attempted to locate Alexander Wages on Wednesday, January 26th, but he was not located. On the morning of Thursday, January 27th Mr. Wagers came to the Plymouth Police Department and admitted that he had battered the 21 month old victim. He was booked into the Marshall County Jail with a charge of battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a victim under the age of 14 years as a Class D Felony and neglect of a dependent with bodily injury a Class C Felony.
Alexander Wagers is being held on a $5,000 cash bond. He remains in the County Jail at this time.

thank you, he is doing ok. no broken bones. he’s pretty tough. its hard but we’re just trying to get through it and move on.
I am so sorry to hear that k1020. How is the child, there are a ton of rumors going around, but I would just love to hear he is doing okay.
As a parent, I cannot imagine what you are going through!! My heart goes out to you and your family and especially to your daughter. I hope that you will be able to keep her away from his family, as it is just not him that is worthless. I am sure that you know the background there. The only person trustworthy in that whole household is the daughter. Alex had to learn his actions from somewhere…
trust me, as the mother of the child, it is a very embarassing and stressful situation.
Reading this made me extremely embarrassed and disappointed. In one way it doesn’t surprise me, but in another it does. My heart goes out to that baby and family! I hope I don’t have to read another heart breaking story like this one, specially from a guy I knew…
Not a very surprising story…feel so very sorry for that little girls mom and her family…Figured his true colors would come out sooner or later..
What a piece of work he is.. I hope they put him in jail and someone shows him what it is like to be beat on. This makes me sick!
What a POS
Hope he gets along time to think about what he has done!!
