Educational research suggests that students who read during the summer come back to school ahead of their reading levels in May.
All Argos elementary students were invited to participate and reading done as part of the public library’s summer reading program could count towards the “I Got Smarter in the Summer” campaign. Students could read 6 or more titles including books, magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, comic books, etc. It didn’t matter what was read as long as students practiced reading.
