Argos Town Council Sets Liaisons

01/11/11 The Argos Town Council established liaison appointments during the their first meeting for 2011.  Dave Walker and George Null were elected president and vice president, respectively, during the last meeting of 2010.   Linda Jones will be the liaison for the Police Department, Val Harley the EMS Department, Casie Rowe the Fire Department, Dave Walker the Utility Department and George Null to the Park Board.  The Council decided to keep the first and third Wednesdays as their meeting days with the meetings starting at 7:30 pm.  Derek Jones will remain as the Town Attorney.

Derek Jones informed the Council on the current actions needed for the property on 313 North Grove Street.  The Council cited the home in violation of the Unsafe Building Ordinance last summer.  Derek told the Council there has been no response from the owners.  There is a hearing before a judge on February 24th asking to have a Sheriff Sale to satisfy the judgment for the ordinance violation.  The Sheriff will then appoint two people to appraise the property. 

It was again mentioned that there were not enough responses to the income survey.  “This is a roadblock to additional grant dollars,” said Council President Dave Walker.  Council Member Casie Rowe and Town Clerk Patty Jones will contact the remaining names on the list to complete the survey.
