11/01/11 The Plymouth America in Bloom Committee is proud to announce it was honored at the recent America in Bloom Symposium held in Crystal City, VA. The symposium featured educational seminars, networking and an awards ceremony.
In the Criteria Category, in which communities of all sizes are pitted against each other, Plymouth was second to Bexley , Ohio, in the area of Urban Forestry. The town of Bexley is in the process of being designated an Arboretum.
In the 10,001 to 15,000 population division Plymouth was named the winner in the Historic Preservation area.
Mike Woolfington, with the Plymouth America In Bloom committee, stated that he is very pleased with the honors Plymouth received, but knows they have a long way to go to be the number one community in the population category.
The committee will soon be receiving the judge’s recommendations on what Plymouth needs to do to make the town a better place to live, work, do business and visit. America in Bloom stresses community involvement and volunteers are needed to help out carry the proposed projects. For more information, contact Mike Woolfington Executive Director of the Marshall County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau at 936-1882 or any member of the committee.
