ALBION, INDIANA – Central Noble senior Rohni Beck recently signed her NJCAA Letter of Intent to play softball for Ancilla College in the 2011-2012 season. She becomes the first signee for the Lady Chargers softball team for next year.
Beck, a three year letter winner for the Cougars as a catcher, was a member of the Northeast Corner Honorable Mention All-Conference team last season and has earned Defensive and Most Improved awards from Central Noble in her career. She posted a .338 batting average last season and has thrown out over 57% of the runners who have attempted to steal on her in her career. Beck is currently two walks away from breaking the Cougar record for walks in a career.
“Rohni is a driven individual,” commented Central Noble coach Dave Weeks. “She will work hard to achieve her goals but always works towards team success above all.”
When asked what made Ancilla the right choice for her, Beck was very straightforward. “College softball has been my dream since I was a little girl. Ancilla is not very far from home and they have a good medical program. Everything just fell into place.”
“Rohni is a very focused young lady,” began Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “She exudes confidence and will be a welcome addition behind the plate for us. I am looking forward to watching her growth and I’m excited that she has decided to join the Ancilla softball family.”
While at Ancilla, Beck will begin work on her degree in Health Sciences. Rohni is the daughter of Lisa Ferguson and John Beck.
