05/10/11 Plymouth City Attorney Nelson Chipman opened quotes for the security renovation project at the Fire House during Monday night’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.  Three quotes were received; Hammer Enterprises from Plymouth quotes $20,685 while Michiana Contracting also of Plymouth $15,520 and U.S. Kustom from Longwood, Florida quoted $16,396.47.  The quotes were taken under-advisement.  The Building Commissioner had only budgeted $14,000 for the project.

Utilities Superintendent Donnie Davidson said the unidirectional hydrant flushing project is only 60% complete.  He hopes to finish the project by the end of the month but noted that numerous brown water complaints have increased dramatically.  He also talked about the future water-main projects on Hoggart, Miner and East LaPorte Streets saying he plans on hiring someone to do the excavating but city employees will do most of the construction work.  His department will also be working on various storm sewer projects on corners around the city.

Plymouth Police Chief Jim Cox told members of the Board of Public Works and Safety that the squad cars he ordered from Oliver Ford in early March are still not in.  Typically it is a 60 day process but this time its been a much lengthier process with delivery anticipated in June.
