09/15/11 It was another busy month the emergency services in Plymouth.  During the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting Monday several department heads presented their monthly reports for August.

Assistant Police Chief Dave Bacon gave the report that listed the activities of city officers.  His department assisted 966 information calls, conducted 440 traffic stops, investigated 371 complaints and responded to 207 9-1-1 calls.  Plymouth police initiated 130 security checks, conducted 112 investigations, issued 74 traffic warnings, make 54 criminal arrests and 54 traffic arrests.   Plymouth PD responded to 38 property damage accidents, investigated 37 complaints of theft, responded to 33 alarms, checked 31 vehicles and 28 suspicious persons.  There were 27 juvenile complaints in August, while the city’s K9 Rex was used 23 times, 16 $2 parking tickets were issued, 11 warrants were served, officers located 4 open doors or windows and the merchant protection plan was implemented twice.

Plymouth EMS was dispatched 176 times in August.  They had 142 medical incidents, 11 medical assists, 4 vehicle fires, 3 times firefighters were asked to stand-by at fire station, and they were cancelled en route 3 times.  Last month fire fighters responded to 2 structure fires, 2 system malfunctions, 1 false alarm, 1 person in distress, 1 rescue, and 1 special type incident.

In August Plymouth Fire and EMS responded to 176 alarms; 1 in Argos, 123 in Plymouth, 21 in Center Township, 22 in West Township, 1 paramedic assist for Argos,  2 Starke County paramedic assists, 1 Culver assist, 3 assists for Lakeville/LaPaz and 2 for Walkerton.
