Commissioner Increase Speed on Pioneer Drive

December 5, 2011

12/06/11 The Marshall County Commissioner handled a number of items on their agenda Monday morning.  They approved on all three readings an ordinance that brings the current ordinance into compliance with the State ordinance that went into effect on July 1st of this year.  Homeland Security wanted to make travel advisories uniform throughout the state.  The amendment passed on Monday does include a penalty if a vehicle is left in a position that prohibits a county snowplow from going down the road they could be charged up to $500.

They also suspended the rules and passed on all three readings an amendment to the County’s Speed Limit Ordinance.  The amendment increases the speed on Pioneer Road from State Road 17 to Lincoln Highway from 40 m.p.h to 50 m.p.h.

Cedarbridge Youth Center in Muncie will provide juvenile detention services for the county in 2012.  On Monday the commissioners approved a one year agreement.  The contract calls for 300 bed days at $89 daily compared to the current contract with Porter County at $110 daily.  Cedarbridge will also provide transportation services.  The remaining beds days with Porter County can be used next year but only at one bed a day.
