12/30/11  On Thursday, December 29th at 12:02 a.m. Patrol Brandon Cooper of the Marshall County Police Department was on routine patrol in LaPaz when he witnessed a vehicle southbound on Michigan Street that was exceeding the posted speed limit.  Cooper conducted the traffic stop and during the investigation Patrolman Cooper requested the Bremen Police Department respond with their K-9 unit.

Bremen Officer Trent Stouder arrived with Quido.  As Quido walked around the vehicle he indicated the presence of a narcotic in the vehicle. A search was conducted.

The investigation determined that one of the passengers, Todd F. Landry 27, of Larwill was in possession of marijuana and another passenger, Arista A. Butcher 19, of Warsaw was in possession of Heroin.

Both subjects were transported to the Marshall County Jail where Landry was booked in with possession of marijuana and was given a $2,000.00 cash bond.  Butcher was booked in for dealing in a schedule 1 controlled substance, and Manufacture/deliver/finance and possession of a controlled substance.  He was held with no bond.   Landry is scheduled to appear in Marshall County Superior Court #2 on January 24th at 8:30am.

A report is being submitted to the Marshall County Prosecutors office for formal charges.
